Take an evening helicopter tour over Waikiki.

OAHU HELICOPTER TOURS

The island of Oahu is well known for its attractions and landmarks: Diamond Head and Waikiki, Hanauma Bay, the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, the North Shore and so on. But did you know that Oahu also has many hidden wonders?

A helicopter tour can take you to remote valleys with cascading waterfalls, the cliffs of historic Nuuanu Valley, out-of-the-way locations made famous by Hollywood films—and much more. A helicopter tour on Oahu is more than a sightseeing expedition—it’s an experience.

There are a number of helicopter adventures available on Oahu. Venture into historic Kahana Valley, the former home of King Kalanikapule. Fly over Sacred Falls, a waterfall nestled in a lush rainforest valley. Travel over the island’s rugged North Shore as well as fields of cane and pineapple.

Another tour may begin with stunning views of Honolulu Harbor and downtown Honolulu, passing over historic sites such as Iolani Palace, the Kamehameha Statue and Mission Houses Museum. Next is the National Cemetery of the Pacific, a 112-acre site that is considered by many to be the most beautiful and poignant of America’s national cemeteries.

Your "flight-seeing" adventure may then take you to Ala Moana Beach Park, the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor and world-famous Waikiki Beach. Tours may also include views of Pearl Harbor. There are even night tours that provide spectacular views of Honolulu’s city lights.

Tours range from 40 minutes to over an hour and include full narration and music. Many tour companies also provide a video of your entire flight so you can preserve the experience.

Visitors are urged to book their helicopter tours early on in their stay. This will allow you to reschedule a tour in the event of bad weather. (Helicopters won’t fly under questionable weather conditions for two reasons: It is unsafe, and you probably won’t get your money’s worth in terms of enjoying the natural scenery.)

Note that Federal Aviation Administration has imposed strict guidelines regarding helicopter seating assignments. The aircraft must be balanced by weight, and you will be asked to provide your weight when you place your reservation.
